PPP shortlists three names for Punjab governor post. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has unveiled a shortlist of candidates for the crucial position of Punjab governor, following a landmark power-sharing agreement with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

According to sources close to the matter, the PPP is deliberating over three prominent figures: Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and Nadeem Afzal Chan.

Among them, Makhdoom Ahmed is purportedly emerging as the frontrunner, with his candidacy enjoying broad support within the PPP and deemed acceptable to the PML-N, poised to assume governance in Punjab.

The revelation came during a late-night press briefing led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who made sweeping announcements regarding the future political landscape of Pakistan.

Bilawal confirmed that Shehbaz Sharif, the prominent leader of the PML-N, is set to ascend to the role of Prime Minister, while PPP stalwart Asif Ali Zardari is slated to assume the presidency.

As PPP shortlists three names for Punjab governor post, Bilawal proclaimed that the PPP and PML-N possess the requisite numerical strength to forge a coalition government, following exhaustive negotiations in the wake of the inconclusive outcomes of the February 8 polls.

“PPP and PML-N have secured the necessary mandate, positioning us to assume leadership,” declared Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, addressing a joint press conference at the illustrious Zardari House in Islamabad.

Echoing Bilawal’s sentiments, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that attempts to cobble together a government by PTI-backed candidates and the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) had faltered in the face of inadequate parliamentary support.

“We extended an invitation to PTI-backed victors to demonstrate their majority and form the government, but their efforts proved futile,” remarked PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, underscoring the pivotal role of the PPP-PML-N coalition in shaping Pakistan’s political landscape.
