Detriorating condition of schools in Jhelum

Students at a primary school in Jhelum were transformed into sweepers and forced to clean the entire building while their headmasters smoked cigarette after cigarette.

At a government primary school in the Deewanpur region of Jhelum, the headmaster, Ashraf, gave the kids brooms instead of books.

On social media, photos showing kids cleaning the school and the headmaster smoking smokes went viral.

Students from Government Girls High Schools in Sindh’s District Qambar were also victims of the Education Department’s incompetence on January 28th, when they were compelled to not unpack their bags and instead clean the entire school building.

The school’s headmistress defended her actions, claiming that a lady sweeper was hired a month ago but never showed up for work.

Nobody was in charge as the female students cleaned their classrooms and spruced up other areas of the school with brooms.

The headmistress went on to say that they had submitted numerous complaints with the Department of Education, but that they had all been ignored.

The parents of the kids had complained that the girls were forced to clean their classrooms as soon as they arrived at school, causing them to fall behind in their studies.
