In a remarkable display of humanity amidst conflict, Danielle Aloni, an Israeli mother, has penned a heartfelt letter to Hamas fighters, expressing sincere gratitude for their compassionate treatment of her five-year-old daughter, Emilia, during their 49-day captivity in besieged Gaza.

The mother-daughter duo was released by Hamas as part of a temporary truce agreement between the Palestinian resistance group and Israel on November 24, as reported by TRT World.

In the letter originally written in Hebrew, Aloni conveyed her deep appreciation to Hamas for their extraordinary kindness towards her daughter. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your extraordinary humanity shown towards my daughter, Emilia,” she wrote.

The handwritten letter, shared on the official Telegram account of Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, included an Arabic translation and a photograph of the emotional reunion between the mother and daughter.

Aloni expressed Emilia’s feelings, noting, “She acknowledges feeling like all of you are her friends, not just friends, but truly beloved and good.” The mother also commended Hamas fighters for the attentive care they provided to the hostages, saying, “Thank you for the many hours you spent as caregivers.”

Highlighting her daughter’s positive experience during captivity, Aloni revealed, “Children should not be in captivity, but thanks to you and other kind people we met along the way, my daughter felt like a queen in Gaza.” She emphasized the kindness and compassion with which Hamas treated Emilia, adding, “In the long journey, we have been on, we have not met anyone who has not been kind to her.”

The letter concluded with Aloni expressing compassion for Hamas, acknowledging the difficult situation they faced and the losses suffered in Gaza. “I will remember your kind behavior shown in spite of the difficult situation you faced and the severe losses you suffered here in Gaza,” she wrote. Aloni extended her wishes for friendship, stating, “I wish in this world we could truly be good friends,” and offered well wishes for the health and well-being of Gazans and their families.

As Israeli mother expresses gratitude to Hamas for good treatment during captivity, Danielle and Emilia Aloni were among the 24 Israeli hostages released by Hamas on November 24.

Previously, Hamas fighters had shared a video in which Danielle and two other hostages criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the delayed release of the hostages.
