Sindh announces retake of MDCAT 2023. The caretaker Sindh government has decided to re-conduct the MDCAT 2023 exam due to a cheating scandal in the previous exam.

Dow University of Health Sciences will hold the MDCAT retake, according to caretaker Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar, and a date for the test will be announced.

Previously, the MDCAT 2023 was held on September 10, however a large number of candidates expressed worries about rampant cheating during the admission exam.

Some of them had also requested that the test be retaken in order to maintain transparency in the admissions process.

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) ruled earlier this week that the MDCAT 2023 tests be re-conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within six weeks after a cheating controversy emerged following the test last month.

“The Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) conducted on September 10th, 2023, is cancelled and shall be re-taken within 06-week’ time in order to ensure timely admission into the medical institution,” read the verdict, which was reserved last month.

As Sindh announces retake of MDCAT 2023, according to the high court, Khyber Medical University (KMU) would conduct a fair and transparent examination in compliance with codal requirements, and the Provincial government will provide protection through District Administration and police.

During the last hearing, the joint investigation team (JIT) presented an early report, which revealed that the criminal act of cheating was carried out by an organised gang involving top authorities. It went on to say that FIRs had been filed against 219 people.

Several candidates were arrested last month on suspicion of cheating during the MDCAT 2023, which was held on September 10. During the test, police and local administration recovered Bluetooth devices from the students.
