ISLAMABAD: Vice President Maryam Nawaz of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stated on Thursday that members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) were ready to jump ship because Prime Minister Imran Khan and his existing government’s “boat was sinking.”
Maryam’s comments occurred during a media interview, in which she declared that PM Imran’s party lacked ideology, ideologues, and dedication, and that it was clear that the party and its members were sinking.
“I strongly suggest the premier and his party colleagues to wear helmets in public or climb on containers to protect themselves from enraged civilians waiting to grab them by the necks,” the PML-N leader said.
She said that parliamentarians from the PTI were willing to switch sides.
She, on the other hand, claimed that under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, the PML-N remained strong and stable despite his inability to return home.
“In the meantime, Imran Khan gives speeches in frustration as his power fades,” she remarked.
The PML-N leader went on to say that the people were first and foremost, and that political parties had a responsibility to defend the country and the nation from the “torment” being imposed on them.
“If the opposition does not respond to the voice of the people, political parties will be equally guilty,” she added, emphasising that their primary obligation was to work for the welfare of the people.
She also “advised” PTI leaders not to support the incumbent administration if they wished to return to their areas in a respectable manner.
“The current scenario has altered as a result of terrorism, inflation, and popular dissatisfaction,” she explained.
In response to a query, she stated that the PTI government was the most corrupt government the country had ever seen, recommending that instead of labelling PML-N officials “thieves,” the premier tell the people about the testimony “coming in favour” of the PML-N from courts.
In response to a query, the PML-N leader stated that the opposition’s first hurdle is the no-confidence motion against the prime. “It will be decided later who will be the future Prime Minister,” she added.
