Jibran Nasir returns home amid uproar over ‘abduction’ in Karachi. Jibran Nasir, a prominent Pakistani rights activist and lawyer, has returned to his residence in the port city, hours after being kidnapped by unknown individuals last night.
It comes just hours after his celebrity wife, Mansha Pasha, stated the couple was on their way home from dinner when some men forcibly took Nasir.
“We were coming back to our home. A white Vigo car intercepted our car and barged toward our vehicle. Around 15 men in plain clothes forcefully took him away,” she said in her video, tearfully calling for Nasir’s safe return.
She explained that their car was intercepted by around 15 armed men traveling in a white double-cabin vehicle. Pasha added, “As we were returning home from dinner, a large white car blocked our path, nearly causing an accident. Approximately 15 individuals armed with pistols forcefully took my husband away.”
Pasha pleaded for public support, urging people to stand in solidarity with her husband and pray for his safe and prompt return.
The TV actress later filed a police report, requesting action against the mystery individuals who kidnapped her husband.
Nasir, 36, has previously run for national assembly elections from Karachi and is regarded as one of the country’s most outspoken critics of human rights issues.
The news of Nasir’s abduction quickly spread, prompting numerous individuals and human rights organizations to condemn the incident.
Expressing their concerns, they demanded the safe and immediate release of Nasir.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) expressed its worry on Twitter, stating, “HRCP is deeply concerned by reports of the abduction of lawyer and activist Jibran Nasir by unknown armed persons in Karachi. We demand his immediate and safe recovery, and that those responsible for the abduction be held accountable under the law.”
