Pakistan shockingly becomes world No 1 in diabetes

Worldwide, the prevalence of diabetes is increasing, with some people developing type 1 and others potentially developing type 2. The majority of diabetes patients reside, however, in Pakistan.

According to a study by World of Statistics, an organization funded by the Georgia State University Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Pakistan has a prevalence rate for diabetes of 30.8%.

Using information from 38 countries, Pakistan ranked first, Kuwait was second with a diabetes incidence of 24.9%, and Egypt was third with a diabetes incidence of 20.9%.

Medical professionals from all around the world have advised people to exercise since it can both prevent and control diseases like diabetes.

The nation with the fifth highest population also has one of the highest percentages of fatalities among people under 60 who have a chronic medical condition. Surprisingly, in a South Asian nation, more than 25% of adults with diabetes are undiagnosed, leading medical professionals to demand more funding to address the problem.

Nigeria, on the other hand, has the lowest prevalence of diabetes, with a rate of 3.6%, according to statistics.

Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) health condition that affects how your body turns food into energy. Your body breaks down most of the food you eat into sugar (glucose) and releases it into your bloodstream. When your blood sugar goes up, it signals your pancreas to release insulin.

Diabetes, if left untreated, leads to many health complications. Untreated or poorly treated diabetes accounts for approximately 1.5 million deaths per year.
