Fawad Chaudhry, the Information Minister, has mocked the Bhutto and Sharif families, claiming that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz are “political toddlers” incapable of running the country.
“Neither [Bilawal] nor Maryam have the political influence to lead the country… “Bilawal should first run for mayor of Karachi, then Maryam should run for mayor of Lahore,” he stated in a press conference in Punjab’s Jhelum on Saturday.

The information minister believes that an alliance of all Pakistan’s opposition parties will not be able to topple Prime Minister Imran Khan politically. “All opposition parties, including the PPP, PML-N, JUI-F, and others, were defeated in the Senate yesterday, where they had a majority,” Fawad added, referring to the SBP bill’s passage in the opposition-dominated upper house of parliament.
He observed, “This is a big country, and those who are presenting themselves to govern it are dwarfs.”
He also advised Bilawal and Maryam to begin their political careers as ordinary members of their own party’s ranks, allowing the other senior leaders to lead. “We have a democracy and a monarchy,” he continued, “therefore they both [Maryam and Bilawal] should leave their positions for senior leadership.”
“I am glad to hear that there is a debate in the PML-N about replacing the Sharif family and giving other leaders an opportunity to lead the party,” the minister said.
In response to the recent increase in terrorist attacks in the country, Fawad reaffirmed the government’s commitment to removing all types of extremist elements from the country in order to preserve long-term stability.
Our security institutions, he said, were ready to weed out any separatist groups from the country with the help of the nation.
Extremism of any sort, including religious extremism, is unacceptable, and the media should play a positive role in combating it, he added.
Prime Ministry Imran Khan’s impending visit to China, according to the minister, will assist boost commercial ties with the friendly and well-established country. He added that the prime minister will travel to two more countries this year, enhancing Pakistan’s standing in international forums.
Despite different hurdles, the country’s economy is on track, and the current year will deliver more positive economic news, according to Fawad.
