Noor Jehan, an ailing elephant who underwent surgery earlier this month, dies at Karachi Zoo as a result of the problems since she did not recuperate adequately. Her condition deteriorated alarmingly in recent days as the cow fell during rehabilitation.
Noor Jehan, named after a queen of the Mughal emperor of the subcontinent Jehangir in the 17th century, has recently had a high fever, according to Administrator Karachi Dr. Saif ul Rehman.
As Noor Jehan dies, social activists lament her passing.
On Friday, the ailing elephant stood on its feet despite her ill health, days after she fell into a small enclosure of a pond which aggravated her situation.
Noor Jehan was reportedly seen on camera with swollen joints while experiencing a hematoma. The situation made the cow just partially mobile. Prior to this, social media users railed against willful ignorance and urged province minister Nasir Hussain Shah to visit the zoo and learn more about it.
FOUR PAWS advised that Noor Jehan and Madhubala be transferred to a location that is suitable for their species in 2021. Noor Jehan will be relocated as soon as she is in a fit state of health, according to the authorities.
The Karachi Zoo also known as Karachi Zoological and Botanical Gardens, formerly known as Gandhi Garden, is located in Garden West, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Established in 1799, it is the largest zoo in Pakistan and the second oldest zoo in the country after Lahore Zoo.
