Another missile misfire has been reported in India, this time during a military exercise in the northern state of Rajasthan.
According to reports in Indian media, three missiles were misfired during training exercises in Jaisalmer, a princely state in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, where the three surface-to-air missiles failed to hit the target due to a technical glitch.
The misfiring incident alarmed neighboring Pakistan, where missiles landed in fields in various villages, causing massive explosions. So far, no deaths have been reported.
The debris from two of the misfired missiles was recovered, but the third missile has yet to be found. According to an Indian defense spokesperson, an investigation has been launched, and further action will be taken as needed.
Defense spokesperson Lt Col Amitabh Sharma said the missiles were misfired during a military exercise.
Nachana Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kailash Vishnoi confirmed the incident and said a missile was found in a field at Ajasar village. The second missile was found in another field. The missile created big craters in the field.
The missiles of range between 10 to 25 kilometers were being test fired by experts in the Army but deviated from their path due to a technical fault.
