The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 schedule was released on Friday, and Pakistan and India will meet in the tournament’s opening encounter on October 23.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will be held in Australia, and the two teams will encounter each other in the group stage, like they did in the previous tournament.
This year’s cricket carnival will take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13, with matches taking place at seven different venues across the country.
In the Super 12 round of the upcoming competition, the archrivals from across the border will be joined by Bangladesh, South Africa, and two more teams from the first round in a group called Group 2.
After defeating Kohli XI by 10 wickets in their T20 World Cup opener last October, team green became the first team to win a World Cup match against their Indian neighbours.
Pakistan won their first-ever T20 encounter by a score of 10 wickets, while India were humiliated for the first time in their history. In the history of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the two teams have met six times, with India taking five of those encounters.
Pakistan will play the winner of Group B in the forthcoming mega-event, which is most likely going to be the West Indies. A matchup with Namibia, the Group A runner-up from the first round, is set for October 30.
Before facing Proteas on November 3 at the SCG, South Africa’s penultimate group match against Bangladesh is on November 6 in Adelaide.
The tournament’s Super 12s will include a total of 12 teams, split into two groups of six each.
Semi-final matches will be held on November 9 and 10 at the SCG and Adelaide Oval. ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final will be held at the MCG on 13 November 2022, making this the first occasion the Adelaide Oval has hosted a World Cup semi-final.
Anglo-Afghanistan, A1 and B2 are all members of Group 1.
