The Islamabad High Court has dismissed the convicts’ appeals in the Noor Mukadam case, upholding the death sentence of chief convict Zahir Jaffer.
The court also rejected the appeals of Zahir Jaffer’s parents, as well as the appeals of the two co-accused Muhammad Iftikhar and Jan Muhammad, in its verdict on Monday.
The verdict was announced by a two-member IHC divisional bench comprised of Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan on December 21, 2022.
The IHC reserved a verdict in the high-profile Noor Mukadam case of murder in which the prime accused, Jaffer, was sentenced to death after a long-drawn-out trial of over four months.

The trial court awarded a death sentence to Jaffer in February 2002, while Jan Muhammad and Muhammad Iftikhar — the gardener and security guard at Jaffer’s house — were awarded 10 years of imprisonment each.
Zahir Jaffer’s crimes were not only confined to rape & murder but the fact that he used his money and influence to assail the credibility of the victim. This perhaps is the only crime where the victim becomes the accused. Rest in peace Noor. https://t.co/SCN7BdLAPA
