Z-plus security for Ambanis in India as well as abroad after bomb threats

Reliance Industries explores historic rupee bond sale amidst diversification drive

Following Ambani’s recent upgrade to Z-plus security on the orders of the Indian Supreme Court, Indian billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani and actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra received bomb threats on Tuesday.

An anonymous phone call was received by Mumbai’s ERSS, alerting the police to potential threats in Juhu, Vile-Parle, and Gamdevi, with the caller claiming that 25 people had been dispatched to the Dadar area for more attacks.

A police officer launched an investigation after overhearing two young people discussing a plan to blow up the homes of Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Mukesh Ambani. The Mumbai Police were notified, and the bomb squad team was contacted, who searched the actors’ homes. However, no evidence was discovered. The cops are still on the job.

In 2021, the Mumbai Police arrested three people suspected of spreading bomb rumors at three railway stations and Bachchan’s home. Furthermore, due to threats against them, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Anupam Kher received varying levels of security last year. Ambani’s Z-plus security team, India’s highest level of protection, consists of 55 people, including over ten National Security Guard commandos and police officers.

The Supreme Court of India ordered that if there is a serious threat, Ambani and his family be provided with the highest level of security, whether in India or abroad, with the Ambanis bearing the cost of security.

Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani is an Indian billionaire businessman. He is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), a Fortune Global 500 company and India’s most valuable company by market value. According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ambani’s net worth is estimated at $83.4 billion as of February 2023, making him the richest person in Asia and the 10th richest person in the world.
