PTI issues show cause notice to party parliamentarian over criticising in NA

The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to a party parliamentarian from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) for allegedly criticising the top leadership during the recent National Assembly session.

Noor Alam attacked the PTI government in the lower house of parliament on Friday, a day after asking Prime Minister Imran Khan “difficult questions” regarding the party’s performance in K-P, and urged that the names of top cabinet officials, including PM Imran, be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).

According to the source, Alam’s criticism of the PTI-led government was noticed by the party’s high leadership.

Pervez Khattak, the PTI’s K-P head, issued the notification, saying that any complaints about the organisation should be brought up in a party meeting.

Public forums, according to the politician, are not acceptable for expressing any objections about the party’s policies.

The party’s MNA was reported to have raised harsh issues with the leadership during a parliamentary party meeting of the PTI and its allied parties last week.

He wanted to know if handing away the State Bank’s authority would have an impact on the security institutions.

“Will we also give the IMF the security agencies’ account numbers?” he wondered.

Premier Imran replied saying he wanted to make it clear that the national interest will not be compromised.

“In all circumstances, the protection of our security agencies is the top concern,” he continued.

People in their areas, Alam added again, have asked them to give gas, power, and water. “Will the mini-budget cover gas, electricity, and water?”

Khattak, who is also the defence minister, is said to have screamed at the prime minister, finance minister, and energy minister during the same meeting.

The veteran politician also told the premier that unelected people were in the cabinet, claiming that even if the people of K-P had chosen him as premier, they were still the ones who were losing the most.
