Several dilapidated infrastructures, weakened by previous disasters, were razed after recent tremors. Rescuers warned the masses to stay away from buildings, and not to take shelter in the damaged buildings.

Besides Turkey, the fresh quake also struck Syria where nearly 500 people were injured.

Experts have since issued several additional aftershock warnings, which could last anywhere from months to years.

Earlier, Footballer Christian Atsu had been found dead under the rubble of his home almost two weeks after the Turkey earthquake, his agent has confirmed. The Ghana international, 31, had spells with Premier League sides Everton, Chelsea, and Newcastle.
