Blasphemy accused burnt to death in Nankana Sahib in latest mob lynching

Blasphemy accused has been burnt to death in Nankana Sahib.

Another lynching incident was reported in Pakistan today where a man was beaten to death by a mob over alleged blasphemy, it emerged on Saturday.

The barbaric crime comes months after a mob tortured and burned a Sri Lankan manager in Sialkot for alleged blasphemy in a horrific act that brought shame to the country’s fifth-largest population.

Hundreds of charged people stormed a police station, assaulted a man in police custody till he died, and then set fire to his body in Nankana Sahib.

Social media videos show a large crowd chanting slogans and storming into a nearby police station.

Initial reports suggest that the man was in police custody when the angry mob rushed to the area.

Meanwhile, the provincial administration sought a report from concerned officials while SHO and another official were suspended over the incident.

Last year, a Sri Lankan manager of the Rajco factory has been lynched by an angry mob over alleged blasphemy.

After beating him to death, his body was set on fire.

As per the initial report the incident took place on Wazirabad road, Sialkot, where the workers of a private factory attacked their owner and Sri Lankan national Priyantha Kumara.

He was working as an export manager in the factory.

As blasphemy accused burnt to death in Nankana Sahib, CM Usman Buzdar ordered police to submit an inquiry report of the incident and termed the incident as “very tragic”.

“This incident must be investigated in detail, police must not leave any aspect of the incident,” Buzdar reportedly said, adding that “Action must be taken against those who took the law into their hands.”

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Ulema Council also “strongly condemned” the Sialkot incident.

“The murder of a foreign manager on the allegations of blasphemy in Sialkot is regretful and highly condemnable,” read a statement issued by the PUC Chairman Tahir Ashrafi.
