2 Polish killed under deadly Gulmarg avalanche at Kashmir Ski Resort. At the well-known ski resort of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, a group of tourists was struck by a massive avalanche, police said. Two Polish nationals perished and 19 others were saved.

Rescue efforts, according to police, are underway. Afarwat peak was struck by an avalanche this afternoon.

“Rescue ops at Gulmarg avalanche, Baramulla police teams along with others on the job. So far 19 foreign nationals have been rescued successfully. Dead bodies of 2 foreign nationals recovered being shifted to hospital for a medico-legal procedure,” police said.

On January 29, a woman and a teenage girl were killed after they came under an avalanche in the Kargil district of Ladakh.
