Did Gen (r) Bajwa help Farah Gogi escape from Pakistan?

Did Gen (r) Bajwa help Farah Gogi escape from Pakistan? Faisal Vawda, the estranged leader of the erstwhile ruling PTI, revealed surprising information concerning Farah Shahzadi’s reported departure from Pakistan.

Speaking to a private news channel, the former minister accused former army head Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa of assisting Farah Gogi, Imran Khan’s wife’s confidante, in moving abroad.

Sharing the alleged story of Farah’s escape to Dubai, Vawda claims that the former top general was well aware of Farah’s decision to flee amid graft suspicions, but chose not to intervene. Imran Khan, according to Bajwa, may take the matter personally.

The close friend of the former first lady has been accused of corruption, as UAE based businessman accused her of an alleged role in the selling of Toshakhana gifts.

Farah’s name first surfaced in the headlines when disgruntled PTI leader Aleem Khan and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz leveled corruption allegations against her.

She was accused of buying a 10-acre industrial plot worth Rs600 million for just Rs80.30 million in Faisalabad’s special economic zone during the tenure of the PTI government in Punjab. However, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) recently dropped this case against her.

Farah has also been accused of using her influence over bureaucratic appointments in Punjab and making money from the babus. However, the then prime minister Imran Khan defended her and said she was a victim of ‘political vendetta’. He said Farah was being targeted for being a close friend of his wife.

In June 2022, two audio leaks came online in which she allegedly sought a costly diamond gift for Bushra Bibi from property tycoon Malik Riaz and his daughter Amber Riaz in exchange for the removal of locks’ on a project site and the retraction of a report against Malik Riaz.

The NAB is investigating Farah for allegedly operating as a front person for Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. She is a director of Ghosia Builders, a construction company reportedly utilized to gain government tenders during the PTI regime. The company manages construction projects in the United Arab Emirates. She is also a shareholder in seven other companies, according to reports.

And last but not the least, Farah is being named in the Toshakhana gifts sale controversy. She is alleged to have facilitated the sale of a precious watch, which was gifted by the Saudi Crown Prince to the then prime minister Imran Khan.
