LHC imposes tax on Moonis Elahi’s properties abroad.
The Lahore High Court has upheld the imposition of tax on foreign assets of PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi and others and rejected the petitions challenging the federal tax as non-maintainable.
Justice Asim Hafeez said during the hearings on Thursday that the government has the legal right to inquire about the possessions of Pakistanis living abroad and to impose taxes.
Moonis Elahi was among 30 people who moved the LHC against the federal government’s decision to slap a tax on their properties abroad.
