Opposition submits no-confidence motion against Punjab CM Elahi

Allied parties in the Punjab Assembly, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) submitted a no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, Speaker Sabtain Khan, and Deputy Speaker Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi to the Punjab Assembly Secretariat on Monday night.

Earlier today, the ruling alliance the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) made a decision to submit a No-Confidence Motion (NCM) against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the Punjab Assembly.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, former President Asif Ali Zardari directed the legislators of the PPP and the PML-N to submit the no-confidence motion against Elahi urgently.

Former President and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari presided over a consultative meeting of the Parliamentary Party members headed by Syed Hassan Murtaza at Bilawal House in Lahore on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Makhdoom Usman Mehmood, Mumtaz Chang, Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Shazia Abid, and other legislators from Punjab.

The sources said that PPP Co-Chairman made a detailed consultation with the party legislators on the political situation of Punjab.

After the meeting, the PPP parliamentary party members left Bilawal House and reached Punjab Assembly to submit the no-confidence motion.

Zardari took the members of the parliamentary party into confidence during his meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

The meeting decided to go with the PDM as they are ready for any sacrifice for democratic stability and supremacy of the parliament in the country.

Zardari while addressing the meeting said the country cannot afford the forces of anarchy so the PPP will continue its struggle till the supremacy of the constitution in Pakistan and the victory of the poor.

He declared that they would complete the Bhutto mission of ensuring the political system’s survival and carry on the fight to preserve the Punjab Assembly.

After the meeting, Asif Ali Zardari was praised for his expertise in politics by Hassan Murtaza, who said that politics is a game of possibilities.

Hassan Murtaza, the leader of the PPP parliamentary party, has expressed complete confidence in Asif Ali Zardari’s leadership.

Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood, president of the PPP South Punjab chapter, was also present.
