ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated the government institutions and health personnel for their “tireless and synchronised” efforts in attaining the COVID-19 immunisation objective by the end of 2021.
In a Twitter thread, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that the government has met its goal of fully vaccinating 70 million people by the end of 2021.
He went on to say that the federal government alone spent about Rs250 billion on vaccines to meet the target, which were given to nationals for free.
He praised the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), federal and provincial administrations, and health personnel for their tireless and coordinated efforts to ensure the success of our government’s immunisation campaign.

Earlier in the day, NCOC Chairman Asad Umar Friday announced that Pakistan had met its goal of providing COVID vaccination to 70 million people by the end of 2021, with Islamabad topping the list with 77 percent of its population fully vaccinated.
Asad Umar said on Twitter that the NCOC team, as well as health administrations in the Center and provinces, worked together to meet the goal of vaccinating 70 million people by the end of 2021.
“Owing to all these people, the target which was considered ungettable has finally been achieved,” he said.
He went on to say that the federal government has procured vaccines worth roughly Rs250 billion to enable the major immunisation push.

The NCOC chairman went on to say that Islamabad leads the federating units in terms of COVID immunisation, with 77 percent of the population fully vaccinated.
“Punjab is at 51%, GB 46%, AJK 45%, Balochistan 42%, KP 41%, and Sind at 37%,” he said and added that of the total eligible population of the country, 46 per cent is fully vaccinated and 63 per cent has received at least one dose.
