In order to immunize 13.5 million children under the age of five in 36 districts of Pakistan, the third Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs) campaign of the year has begun.
In nine districts of Punjab, eight districts of Sindh, six districts of Balochistan, and Islamabad, the campaign will begin on November 28-29. The campaign will start in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on December 5 and will focus on nine high-risk districts in the area.
The vaccination drive will involve over 100,000 skilled and committed “Sehat Muhafiz” who will immunize kids right at their door. “Polio will be completely eradicated from Pakistan if we can eradicate the poliovirus from southern K-P. According to Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination Abdul Qadir Patel, “We are actually fairly close to the finish line, and we are determined to get there as quickly as possible.”
According to him, Pakistan has achieved remarkable advances in the fight against polio, with the virus now only spreading in a small portion of the nation.
Dr. Shahzad Baig, the coordinator of the National Emergency Operation Center, emphasized that for the anti-polio campaign to be successful, coordinated action at all levels was necessary.
“Our goal is to make sure that eligible youngsters receive vaccinations on time and repeatedly. Our first priority is high-risk locations, and we are eager to eradicate the poliovirus there while safeguarding the rest of the region,” he said.
“During all vaccination drives, I particularly urge all parents and caregivers to get their kids immunized rather than hiding them or forbidding them from taking the required drops. The polio virus still exists in our environment, and until every child is properly immunized, no child is safe,” he continued.
