Google Play Store will no longer be available for Pakistani users

SBP denies rumours about stopping payments to google

Users in Pakistan won’t be able to access Google Play Store services starting in December 2022 since the State Bank of Pakistan terminated the direct carrier billing (DCB) system.

According to reports citing sources, the central bank of the nation has terminated the direct carrier billing (DCB) system, forcing consumers to download Google and other foreign apps in order to use bank cards to make purchases.

It also implies that a huge number of mobile users won’t be able to download apps from the Google Play Store due to the store’s limited ability to accept credit cards from some consumers.

According to the article, the Telecom Ministry, PTA, and cellular service providers asked the State Bank of Pakistan to request the decision, which will create obstacles for users, be revoked.

In the letter, officials maintained that the outage of such digital services due to non-payments would create problems in Pakistan in the digital age social and should be avoided at any cost.

Top tech giants including Google, Amazon and Meta, and others are being impacted in wake of non-¬payment and are most likely to discontinue their services, it further warned, saying it will impact users being unable to fulfill their needs from platforms.
