Shooting incident at US gay nightclub left 6 dead and18 injured. At least 18 individuals were injured and five people have been killed in a shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, US.
In a statement, the club, Club Q, described the shooting as a “hate attack” and claimed that customers managed to subdue the shooter.
It said: “Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community”
“Our prayers and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends. We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”
The first phone call announcing the shooting started at 11:57 p.m. local time.
34 firefighters and 11 ambulances were dispatched to the scene of what was called “a mass casualty event.”
Officers claim they were able to enter the location right away and found a person who they believe to be the suspect.
At this time, a neighborhood hospital is attending to them. Police have not disclosed the attack’s motive or how the suspect was apprehended.
Police declined to speak about a possible motive. Colorado Springs Fire Capt. Mike Smaldino said 11 ambulances responded to the scene after multiple 911 calls were received.
After the shooting incident at US gay nightclub, the nightclub’s immediate vicinity has been blocked off. Already present and aiding with investigations is the FBI.
