Imran Khan is buried under his own 'performance' in KP: Maryam

PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to resign following his party’s humiliating defeat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government elections, mockingly telling him that there will be no takers for the PTI ticket in the next round of elections.

Maryam Nawaz told reporters following her court hearing in the Avenfield case in Islamabad on Tuesday that what occurred in the KP with the ruling party was apparent.

She cynically stated that Imran Khan had been buried under his own ‘performance.’

She believed that the PTI MNAs and MPAs were not supporting their own candidates in the LG elections. She prophesied that no one will want to buy a PTI ticket in the future. She did, however, warn PTI ticket holders to wear their ‘helmet’ in public.

Maryam bemoaned the fact that the current rulers have completely damaged Nawaz’s prosperous economy and are crushing the people of this country under the weight of inflation.

Maryam said that the PTI backed out of the Lahore by-election on ‘technical grounds.’ She went on to say that Imran Khan must recognize the fact that he is incapable of running the country.

She congratulated JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the electoral victory of his party.

She urged PML-N leaders and workers to pay close attention to the KP in the upcoming LG elections.

She cynically observed of the Bus Rapid Transit scheme, “This bus runs less and burns more.”

When a journalist questioned if Shehbaz Sharif would be the PML-next N’s prime minister candidate, Maryam answered that the party’s supremo, Nawaz Sharif, had the authority to choose the party’s prime minister candidate.

She said that three-time former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan “very soon” in response to the PML-N supremo’s return.

“He (Nawaz Sharif) will be here very soon, insha’Allah.” I hope he arrives in Pakistan tomorrow. She went on to say, “This is his country, and he is eager to return.”

She said that all of the cases brought against her were based on lies. She claimed that the NAB was unable to bring a single paper against her in court.

Earlier, appeals in the Avenfield case were considered by a two-judge panel of the Islamabad High Court, consisting of Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani. Maryam Nawaz and her husband, Capt® Safdar Mehmood, both appeared in court. Junaid Safdar, the couple’s son, accompanied them.

Maryam and Safdar were represented in court by lawyer Irfan Qadir, while NAB was represented by Deputy Prosecutor General ® Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi.

The NAB requested that the hearing be postponed since its prosecutor, Usman Cheema was unable to attend due to sickness, and doctors urged him to quarantine after he developed a fever and lost his senses of taste and smell.

The court agreed to the NAB’s motion and delayed the hearing until January 18.
