Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, the head of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), also showed up, marking the first time this has ever happened. He claimed that he was hosting this news conference because “only we know” a number of agency-related issues, therefore he reasoned that he should appear personally and assume responsibility for the information that would be revealed.

“We cannot permit false narratives that are far from the truth to influence young minds. To put a stop to lies, he added, the truth had to be stated.

He asserted that Imran cannot meet with General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the head of the army, in the evening and then brand him a “traitor” the following day. Why did you meet the commander in chief in hiding if he is a traitor?”

The DG ISPR stated that the circumstances surrounding Arshad’s death and the cypher, which Imran Khan claimed demonstrated there was a foreign plot to overthrow him, must be established.

Arshad investigated the cypher problem when it came up since he was an investigative journalist, the DG ISPR continued. He said that Imran Khan and the army chief had addressed it on March 11 and that Khan had described it as “not a huge deal.” He also claimed that new information on the cypher had shown the “baseless and unsubstantiated” narrative that had been surrounding it.

“The National Security Committee was briefed by the ISPR that there was no evidence of a conspiracy against the PTI government. Additionally, the Inter-Services Intelligence did not uncover any proof of the conspiracy “added by him.

He stated that the decision to make this public was up to the then-governing body [PTI]. However, he added, “This did not occur, and other rumours were spread to gain political mileage.” The DG ISPR further stated that efforts were made around the world to disparage Pakistan and its institutions.
