Suspects arrested for blast that damaged Crimean bridge
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said Wednesday that it had arrested five Russians and three citizens of Ukraine and Armenia for the blast that damaged the Crimean bridge last Saturday, Interfax reported.
The FSB said the blast was organized by Ukrainian military intelligence and its director, Kyrylo Budanov. The explosive was transferred from Ukraine to Russia via Bulgaria, Georgia and Armenia, according to the FSB.
The FSB, the main successor to the KGB in Soviet times, also said it had prevented Ukrainian attacks in Moscow and the western Russian city of Bryansk.
Ukraine has not officially confirmed its involvement in the explosion, but some Ukrainian officials have celebrated the damage.
The explosion on the 12-mile bridge destroyed part of the road bridge, temporarily blocking road traffic. It also destroyed several fuel tankers on a train bound for the annexed peninsula from neighboring southern Russia.

The bridge, a prestige project opened in person by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018, had become logistically vital to his military campaign, providing supplies to Russian troops fighting in southern Ukraine.
