How can World War 3 outstrip? Tensions over Nord Stream gas pipeline

The changing dynamics of the globe especially in a wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine have raised the tensions between the western and eastern blocs. The recent tensions sparked by the explosion in the Nord Stream gas pipeline have once again paved the way for WW3.

Nord Stream (mixed German-English expression) is the name of a pair of offshore pipelines in Europe which runs under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany. It includes the Nord Stream 1 (NS1) pipeline running from Vyborg in northwestern Russia, near Finland, and the Nord Stream 2 (NS2) pipeline running from Ust-Luga in northwestern Russia near Estonia. Both pipelines lead to Lubmin in the northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Each pipeline comprises two lines approximately 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) in length.

In the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Nord Stream 2 was denied certification. The name “Nord Stream” sometimes refers to a wider pipeline network, including the onshore pipeline entering Russia and other connections in Western Europe.

Right from the point when Nord Stream gas pipeline was observed, The EU said that the losses in two major gas pipelines from Russia to Europe were caused by sabotage, but stopped blaming Russia directly. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said a deliberate interruption would be the “strongest possible response”.

The EU previously accused Russia of using gas supplies as a weapon against the West for its support of Ukraine. But Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed the sabotage allegations as “predictable, stupid and absurd”. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he believed the leaks “would not have a significant impact on Europe’s energy resilience.” Neither pipeline currently carries gas, although both contain gas. Blinken did not blame Russia directly but said it would not be in anyone’s interest if they were deliberately caused. Danish Energy Minister Dan Jorgensen said leaks are likely to last at least a week until the gas leaking from the pipes runs out. An investigation has been launched.

However, Nord Stream 2 operators warned of a pressure loss in the pipeline on Monday afternoon. This led Danish authorities to say that ships should avoid the area near the island of Bornholm. Next, the operator of Nord Stream 1 said on Tuesday that undersea power lines suffered “unprecedented” damage in a day at the same time.

A number of Americans took to Twitter and claimed that the US attacked a Russian pipeline and thereby set off WWIII. They are declaring the US as responsible for explosions that damaged the Nord Stream pipelines and explicitly blaming the US time and again. People claim that the America not only destroyed the gas pipelines, but they have inflicted massive ecological damage to the environment they profess to care so much about.
