Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail resigned to Pakistani Muslim League Supreme Nawaz (PML-N) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during a party meeting in London on Sunday.
PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar will replace Miftah as the new finance minister. Ishaq’s appointment was put forward by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at a meeting held under the chairman of the Supreme PML-N.
The meeting discussed the country’s general political and economic situation. The incumbent government believed that the incumbent government needed to get the country out of the economic crisis caused by the former government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Miftah Ismail thanked Nawaz Sharif for the trust placed on him. He said he had served the country to the best of his abilities over the past four months.
Nawaz Sharif acknowledged Miftah’s efforts to discharge its responsibilities under the most difficult conditions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Miftah Ismail, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, and Ahad Cheema attended the meeting.
