Prime Minister meets Nobel Laureate Malala Yousufzai
Sideline meetings were taken place between Prime Minister Shahbaz Shareef and Malala Yousufzai. Malala being a chairperson of the Malala Fund discussed a few things with the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
PM met Malala on the sidelines of UNGA today. He expressed his admiration for how Malala has inspired and become a symbol of hope for millions of people around the world. Both discussed challenges posed by climate catastrophe to the education of millions in Pakistan.
Moreover, the discussion was centered around the government’s effort in the areas of education, gender equality, and learning opportunities for both male and female students in Pakistan, alongside projects and schemes to prioritize and incentivize the education of girls in Pakistan.
She shared this in her tweet “Today I met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the urgent needs of people affected by floods in Pakistan. We are calling on the international community to ease debt pressure and provide immediate humanitarian support.”
