Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Gomal University in Dera Ismael Khan, has written a letter to Mujahid Akbar Khan, Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Peshawar, requesting the registration of cases under the 2016 Cyber Crimes Act against former federal minister Ali Amin Gandpur.
The VC claimed in the letter that Gandapur interfered with his official duties by sending him threatening messages on WhatsApp, posting derogatory information about him on social media, engaging in character assassination against him in mainstream media, and inciting university students against him; as a result, he should be charged under the appropriate Act.
Prior to this, Dr. Iftikhar petitioned the DPO in two applications that he register cases against Gandapur on the same charges.
