Benazir Income Support Program distributes Rs. 22.95 billion among flood victims

The Benazir Income Support Program has distributed over Rs. 22.95 billion among 918,121 families in flood-affected areas. The Benazir Income Support Program said the social security network is providing Rs 25,000 to each family in the flood-affected areas of the country.

According to official figures, 81% of the total identified beneficiaries have so far been served by 377 dedicated campsites set up in the flood-affected regions. Earlier, Federal Poverty Alleviation and Social Security Minister Shazia Marri announced Rs 1 billion under the Benazir Nashonuma scheme.

Through this initiative, the government will meet the nutritional needs of millions of pregnant women and children affected by the floods. As of Friday evening, 111,680 affected families have received Rs. 2.79 billion in Balochistan, 545,505 families received Rs. 13.64 billion in Sindh, 113,851 households received Rs. 2.84 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 147,085 households received Rs. 3.68 billion in Punjab.

The administration of the BISP has instructed the concerned staff of the campsites to cooperate fully and facilitate those affected in their respective regions. Affected families have been asked to send their CNIC number to 8171 to register for the BISP’s Flood Rescue Cash Assistance Program, and upon receiving the payment notice, they must visit the nearby campsite to receive payment in cash.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to friendly countries for providing aid to Pakistan after its flood losses. He said the scale of the disaster was greater than the country’s ability to deal with it effectively.

He urged the nation, including the intelligentsia and the media, to focus on the flood situation and put aside politics.
