Islamabad will have its First Modern Prison soon

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has established a six-person team under the direction of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to speed the building of the nation’s first modern prison in Islamabad.

The city’s own cutting-edge jail, the Islamabad Model Jail, will soon be built in Sector H-16.

The committee will assess the jail project and guarantee that it is finished quickly.

The project “Construction of Model Prison at H-16 Islamabad” was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on July 20 for a cost of Rs. 3.9 billion.

According to an official source, the project has already cost over Rs. 2 billion, and the Public Sector Development Program 2022–2023 has allocated Rs. 350 million for it (PSDP).

The transit of detainees to and from Adiala Jail after court sessions is getting more challenging for Islamabad’s police because the federal capital lacks a jail.

The 90-acre Modern Prison in Sector H-16 of Islamabad is still under construction.

It is hoped that once it is finished, the issues with the administration and police of the federal capital would be fixed.
