Devastating monsoon of 2022

With a relentless tale of tragedies and destruction, the monsoon of 2022 continues to be exceptionally difficult for Pakistan. After a decade, the torrential rains have just hit Pakistan, notably Balochistan and Sindh. Consequently, putting Quetta, Karachi, and Hyderabad on high alert. Over a thousand roads, homes, bridges, highways, and crops were entirely damaged as a result of rapid flooding.

According to Pakistan’s meteorological department forecast, the administration of Hyderabad district has issued a rain alert as the city is predicted to receive 200 millimeters of rain. Due to the torrential rain, a serious incident took place in the area of Latifabad, Hyderabad.

For approximately an hour, three cars became stranded in between their lanes, and the engines in the cars stopped working as a result of water leaking inside. An ordinary citizen who attempted to fix the issue consequently died from electrocution.

As a result of the subsequent heavy rains, there has been a lot of water left on the streets with no way to walk and this problem is escalating further. The torrential downpours have brought forth the usual circumstances: urban flooding, electrocution fatalities, power outages, and the cessation of daily activity. The Sindh government has proclaimed a public holiday on 24th and 25th of August in overall Sindh amid heavy rain forecast.

Citizens are advised to remain indoors as more rain is predicted in the next few hours. If the Pakistani government does not take appropriate action to reduce the repercussions of the shifting weather patterns, the country will continue to experience deleterious effects from them.
