Speaking Truth to Oppressed

Youtuber Jameel Farooqui arrested by Islamabad police

YouTuber and social media activist Jameel Farooqui was arrested on Monday for falsely accusing the Islamabad Police of torturing senior PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.

According to a statement issued by the capital city police, Farooqui was detained in Karachi in connection with a case filed against him at the Ramna Police Station in Islamabad.

Farooqui allegedly falsely claimed in his vlog that the Islamabad Police had abused Gill both physically and sexually.

The Islamabad Police have stated that they will take action against anyone who makes provocative, fabricated, or false allegations against the force.

Earlier that day, on August 9, Islamabad police arrested PTI senior leader Shahbaz Gill inside the Banigala.

According to sources, the Islamabad police have filed a complaint against Gill for disparaging sensitive government institutions.

He was apprehended outside Imran Khan’s apartment in Banigala Chowk, the federal capital.

After arresting the PTI leader, Islamabad police took him to an unknown location.

It is worth noting that the PTI leader attempted to instill fear in the Pakistan Army the day before while speaking on a private TV channel.

Gill had threatened top bureaucrats and spoken disparagingly of the media. The PTI leader had launched personal attacks and made underhanded remarks about his political opponents.

The ex-premier took to Twitter shortly after the news broke, declaring that “this is an abduction, not an arrest.”

“Can such heinous acts occur in any democracy?” “Political workers are treated as foes,” he said.
