Federal Cabinet unanimously rejects increase in price of 35 Medicines

The Federal Cabinet unanimously rejected the Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination’s summary of the price hike – manufacturers’ recommended price (MRP) – of 35 medicines.

The Federal Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, issued a directive Tuesday at the Prime Minister Secretariat Islamabad that no increase in the prices of medicines shall be made without the approval of the Federal Cabinet.

On the recommendation of the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, the cabinet also approved the minimum limit for Diyat for the fiscal year 2022-23 to be equivalent to 30,630 grammes of silver, which is worth approximately Rs. 4,300,000.

Furthermore, on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry, the Federal Cabinet approved the addition of the names of ten people to the Exit Control Lists (ECL). The cabinet also approved the removal of 22 people from the ECL and granted three people permission to travel abroad once.

The cabinet approved the following Economic Coordination Committee decisions made on August 11, 2022:

Issuance of a GOP Guarantee in Favor of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) for a $142.0 million financing facility (Aviation).

The cabinet also ratified the Cabinet Committee for the Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC) decisions made on August 15, 2022, which include:

(i) Amendment to Army Regulations (Rules)-1998 Authorizing Government Married Accommodation for Defence Security Force (DSF) Personnel.

(ii) Amendment to Annex ‘A’ to Rule 11 of the 2015 Ration and Supply Scales (Regulations).

(iii) 2018 Amendments to the National Skills University Act

(iv) Appointment of Law Officers in the Advocate General’s Office, ICT, Islamabad, by amending President’s Order No. 1 of 2015.

(v) Employees Service Regulations of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), 2022.
