A number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who had previously made anti-army statements on social media have admitted their error and apologized.
Muhammad Shabbir, a PTI worker who had previously made anti-army statements while speaking to the media on the premises of the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry, expressed regret for his error.
“My name is Muhammad Shabbir,” he said in a video message. Baghbanpura [Lahore] is where I call home. I’ve been involved with the PTI for ten years and admire Imran Khan. Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed and Mian Hamid have promised to appoint me as Shell Petrol’s additional general secretary.”
“I went to the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry with my PTI friends a few days ago and recited a poem on their insistence, which I deeply regret,” he added. Please forgive me for the sake of God if the poem has caused you harm. I will not repeat the same error.”
Another PTI worker, Syeda Tayyeba Bukhari of Gujranwala, the founder of the Markhor Media Network page, admitted to accidentally sharing an anti-army post on Twitter and distanced herself from the party leadership’s narrative. She apologized for sharing anti-army posts on social media and promised not to do so again.
Similarly, Muhammad Azam of Pattoki admitted to posting an anti-army message on social media. “In the future, I will not post anything that incites hatred,” he promised.
It should be noted that these apologies came after the arrest of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill on the charge of allegedly inciting rebellion and intrigue among Pakistan Army junior officers against their seniors.
