Cristiano Ronaldo has vaulted to the top of Instagram’s yearly rich list of celebrities who may charge the most for a sponsored post, with the ability to command up to $1.6 million (PKR 36 Crore) to promote a product on social media.
In a list that also includes actor-wrestler Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and singer Ariana Grande, the Portugal captain, who ruffled the Euro 2020 sponsor Coca-Cola by hiding its drinks from view at a post-match press conference, has been named king of the influencers.
It is the first time a football player has topped the annual lists, which are dominated by American stars of reality TV, movies, and music.
Ronaldo’s anticipated fee for a sponsored post increased dramatically in 2018 and is now almost twice as much as it was in 2019. Ronaldo moved up from third place in 2019, surpassing Johnson, who had previously topped the list. Kylie Jenner, a celebrity and businesswoman in the makeup industry, was placed second.
