President Dr. Arif Alvi renewed Pakistan’s offer on Monday to provide Afghan students with online and virtual education opportunities through the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and the Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP).
After learning that Mufti Sahib would be visiting Afghanistan to meet with the government, the president spoke with Mufti Taqi Usmani and explained that because Afghanistan lacked widespread internet access, it was initially possible to reach Afghan students (both male and female) through its television network.
When the Afghan Minister of Education met with the president, he expressed his deep concern for Afghan students and made the offer. In meetings with the Afghan ambassador, Afghan counsel generals, and other Afghan government leadership, whether personally or through interactions with them, the president made this offer numerous times.
