Mardan is facing the possibility of urban flooding as a result of strong monsoon rains on Saturday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, heavy rains will fall on Mardan, causing streams and nullahs to overflow.
Mardan Deputy Commissioner Habib Ullah Arif has issued a notification requiring all departments and officers to be ready to deal with the emergency situation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to a DC spokesperson, the DC has asked sanitation services firm and TMA authorities to maintain the cleanliness of drains and the pumping of water from city streets during rain.
He said that the DC had instructed the irrigation department to remove all encroachments on Kalpani nullah and other canals in the event of possible flooding.
The emergency control room of the city has been made active under the surveillance of the deputy commissioner.
Army helping in rescue efforts
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army personnel are assisting the civil administration in rescuing persons trapped in flooded areas.
The FC guys rescued four persons who were stranded in flooding Kech Kor Nullah in Khushab’s South Bulen region.
Rain situation in Karachi
Meanwhile, following yesterday’s tremendous rain, Karachi’s streets were covered in massive pools and streams.
Model Colony, Malir, and Airport Road have all been buried by rainwater. The administration has built pumps at several locations to drain water from the streets.
Prediction for more showers
Today will see sporadic rain in numerous locations throughout the country, including Karachi and Islamabad, according to the weather forecast.
Aside from them, the moist showers will drench various Punjab cities, including Lahore, Gujrat, Jehlum, and Faisalabad.
Heavy rain will fall in Peshawar, Nowshera, and Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rain is expected in Hyderabad, Pirpurkhas, Badin, and Dadu in Interior Sindh.
According to the Met Office, sleet will hit various cities in Balochistan, including Quetta.
