Nepra has approved a Rs7.90/unit increase in the price of electricity under the category of monthly fuel adjustment charges. This is yet another unexpected windfall for the people suffering from inflation.
On Monday, a petition calling for an increase in electricity rates was being heard by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra). The increase was authorized as part of the monthly fuel adjustment charges.
Later, Nepra will announce its thorough verdict.
The new increase in electricity rates will cost consumers of energy an additional Rs113 billion.
