The Ministry of Science and Technology has created a policy to establish a “Bhung Authority.”
According to the article, the government will establish the National Hemp and Cannabis Authority, with a Board of Governors made up of secretaries from six ministries.
While the Anti-Narcotics Department will oversee cannabis procurement, seed importation, growing, and transit.
ANF will also perform an audit of the seeds that will be introduced into the country by investors.
According to the policy, the authority will give licences for industrial hemp and cannabis to investors for the next 15 years.
The licence holder will be allowed to import and cultivate cannabis seeds, and the Ministry of Food will issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the import or export of cannabis seeds.
