President Dr Arif Alvi has accepted Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon’s resignation.
President Arif Alvi stated in a tweet on Saturday that he accepted the resignation of Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon.
The President also appointed Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Speaker Syed Amjad Ali as acting governor until the next governor is appointed.
The position of GB governor GB became vacant on April 19, 2022, following the resignation of Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon. The region has been operating without a governor since his resignation.
On September 27, 2018, Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon was named governor of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Maqpoon was the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Gilgit-Baltistan (PTI).
The sixth governor of the northern administrative territory will be a top PTI politician from G-B.
