Afghan terrorists may kill Imran Khan, claims Fayyaz ul Hassan

Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who was recently appointed as media adviser to former Prime Minister Imran Khan, made a surprising assertion on Saturday, saying that a terrorist in Afghanistan had been entrusted with assassinating the PTI chairman.

Chohan said on Twitter that “certain people” had tasked a terrorist with assassinating former Prime Minister Khan, who was deposed in April.

“I have details that some people have ordered a terrorist named ‘Cochi’ in Afghanistan to assassinate PTI Chairman Imran Khan,” the former provincial minister said in a tweet.

Following reports of threats against Khan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked the Interior Ministry last month to provide him with airtight protection at his house in Islamabad and at political rallies.

Khan said there was a threat to his life at a gathering last month, and as a result, he taped a video of the individuals behind the “plot” against his administration, which he plans to disclose if he is killed.

In a speech to a crowd in Sialkot, the former prime minister said that a “plot” was being planned to assassinate him, and that despite knowing about it before, he now had enough proof to prove it. In light of the alleged plot to assassinate him, the PTI chairman said he had recorded a tape and kept it in a “safe spot” in which he names each and every person involved in the “conspiracy” to depose his administration.

Fawad Chaudhry, the then-information minister, had also alleged that security agencies had revealed a “assassination plan” against Khan before his resignation in April.
