DIG Security Maqsood Ahmed Memon said on Monday that sharpshooters would be stationed at sensitive locations during the West Indies tour of Pakistan, as authorities finalized the security plan ahead of the series.

The DIG’s remarks came during a meeting presided over by Additional Chief Secretary Home, Sindh, Qazi Shahid, and attended by additional AIGs Ghulam Nabi Memon and Amir Ahmed Shaikh, as well as senior police, rangers, army, and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials.

To ensure foolproof security, Sharpshooters will be stationed in sensitive areas during the West Indies tour of Pakistan.

The tour will include three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) at Karachi’s National Stadium from December 13 to 22.

Ahmed briefed the meeting on the tour’s security arrangements, stating that Security Division personnel, including commandos from the Special Security Unit, would be deployed to maintain law and order.

The ODI Series will be West Indies’ fourth of 12 in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, in which the top seven teams will automatically qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

The West Indies cricket team nicknamed the Men in Maroon or The Windies, is a multi-national men’s cricket team representing the mainly English-speaking countries and territories in the Caribbean region and administered by Cricket West Indies.
