Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars in the final match before the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat, setting Lahore Qalandars a 159-run goal. The batsmen for Zalm failed to deliver against the in-form Lahore Qalandars. Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik were both dismissed by spinner Fawad Ahmed.
In four overs, the right-arm spinner only gave up 26 runs. Peshawar Zalmi’s top scorer was Shoaib Malik, who made 32 runs in 28 balls. The batting line-up of Peshawar Zalmi failed to deliver against the in-form Lahore Qalandars.
Mohammad Harris and Hazratullah Zazai, the Zalmi’s openers, failed to get the Zalmi off to a flying start against the world-class bowling of the Lahore Qalandars. In their previous match, Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United by 66 runs.
Fakhar Zaman, Philip Salt, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hafeez, Harry Brook, Sohail Akhtar, David Wiese, Shaheen Afridi (c), Fawad Ahmed, and Haris Rauf make up the Lahore Qalandars lineup.
Hazratullah Zazai, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Haris, Shoaib Malik, Hussain Talat, Haider Ali, Wahab Riaz (c), Amad Butt, Khalid Usman, Mohammad Umar, and Arshad Iqbal make up the Peshawar Zalmi lineup.
Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs, but the match will determine who will face Multan Sultan at the top of the table and who will face an Islamabad United team that has been beaten by injury.
With 12 points from nine games, Qalandars are second in the standings, while Zalmis are third with 10 points from nine games.
