Shoaib Malik compares himself to Shah Rukh Khan. Shoaib Malik of the Karachi Kings compared himself to tennis player Novak Djokovic and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan at the PSL post-match press conference yesterday night.
After Malik’s heroics with the bat against Peshawar Zalmi, a journalist who made a subtle jab at his age by calling him “old is gold” was hushed by the seasoned cricketer.
By using the Serbian tennis player and Shah Rukh Khan as examples and stressing that age is just a number, Shoaib Malik corrected the cheeky journalist.
Shoaib Malik said in the show, “Shah Rukh Khan did a movie recently, he was also looking like ‘old is gold’. We should not put too much emphasis on age. If Novak Djokovic can win a grand slam at the age of 36, then we should see whether a person can compete with a youngster or not. We should also see if we don’t have to hide a senior player in the field or he doesn’t disturb dressing room’s environment.”
Shoaib Malik compares himself to Shah Rukh Khan as he went on to add that “rules should be the same for everyone” and there should not be differences for aged players.
Shoaib Malik, who hit four boundaries and two enormous sixes, played a crucial knock of 52 runs off 34 deliveries to keep Karachi Kings in the tightly contested game against Peshawar Zalmi Friday night.
Despite Malik’s heroics with the bat, Karachi Kings lost to Peshawar Zalmi by two runs in an absolute thriller of a match at the National Stadium in Karachi.
