Najam Sethi appointed as new PCB Chairman
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s new chairman has been named as Najam Sethi (PCB). Ramiz Raja, a former cricketer who was appointed as PCB Chairman by former prime minister Imran Khan on September 13, 2021, will be replaced by Najam Sethi, who previously served as the PCB’s interim chairman.
Najam Sethi was appointed as the new head of the Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif (PCB).
Sethi, a well-known journalist and media figure in Pakistan, formerly held the position of interim chairman for the PCB.
Following England’s rout of Pakistan in the home series, a decision was made. Furthermore, PCB has encountered a number of difficulties recently.
It is important to note at this point that Ramiz Raja was to be dismissed as PCB chairman after the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) provided a summary to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Shakil Sheikh and Najam Sethi were nominated as the new PCB governing board members in the summary.
However, Raja had called PCB staffers to tell them that he had gotten a “green signal” from the government to continue working.
“I have been told to continue working as [the] PCB chairman,” Raja had told PCB staffers.
The former Pakistan captain was elected as the chairman of the cricket board unopposed on September 13, 2021, during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
The PCB’s top post had fallen vacant after Ehsan Mani stepped down following the completion of his three-year term.
