Contract signed between Saudi club Al Nassr & Cristiano Ronaldo

Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to one-year £172.9 million contract.

After a tumultuous relationship with the club’s management surfaced earlier this month, the 37-year-contract old’s with Manchester United was terminated. His situation only got worse when he made a number of contentious claims during an interview with Piers Morgan on television.

The Portugal international lobbied for a transfer away from Old Trafford in the summer, but he was unable to realise his dream because he was committed to playing in the Champions League. Early this month, Manchester United cancelled the striker’s 37-year-old contract. The former Real Madrid player declined a move to Saudi Arabia last summer, but he now appears prepared to make the switch given that top European teams have shown little real interest.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Ronaldo is said to have agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Al Nassr worth £172.9million a year, which will see him play until the age of 40.

Al-Nassr is one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, having been crowned champions of the country’s top division nine times, most recently in 2019.

The same report has also suggested that no club from Europe or MLS could afford to come close to offering such a luxurious offering.

Chelsea have also cooled their interest in Ronaldo, while Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have declined talks earlier this week since his bombshell interview in which he blasted United owner and manager Erik ten Hag.

For now, however, Ronaldo is focused on the World Cup in Qatar to help Portugal top their group when they take on South Korea on Friday afternoon.

The striker became the first man in history to score in five different World Cups, opening the scoring from the penalty spot in a thrilling 3-2 win over Ghana.

He then thought he had matched Eusebio’s record nine goals at the World Cup for Portugal as they beat Uruguay 2-0 in their second group game.

The opening goal instead went to his former Manchester United team-mate Bruno Fernandes, who denied him another record.
