England drops to No. 2 in ODI rankings after losing series to Australia

As a result of their 3-0 series loss to Australia, England drops to No. 2 in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings, giving New Zealand the top spot.

The current ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup champions suffered a rare loss that caused them to lose the top spot in the ODI rankings in just 10 days after they went from winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 to being thoroughly defeated in Australia.

In the list of ODI Team Rankings, New Zealand is once again ranked first.

Before the series began, England held a comfortable lead with a 119 Rating, five points ahead of second-place New Zealand. But after three straight losses, they dropped a rating of six and eventually behind New Zealand (114) with 113.

Australia was also honoured for their outstanding performance. They moved up a spot, replacing Pakistan, who had a 107 Rating, to take over fourth place with a 112 Rating. As a result, India now has a similar rating to Australia even though it has more total points.

Australia at No. 4 with a 112 Rating and 3572 Points, followed by India at No. 3 with a rating of 112 and 3802 Points.

In January 2023, England will have another chance to retake first place when they go to South Africa for a three-match series.
